Reflecting itself from different angles, this three-part sculpture is a complex structure which disorients the viewer’s gaze while altering their sense of space. Donna Huanca’s reflective sculptures act as architectural devices which sculpt the exhibition space. By reflecting the nearby paintings, performers and viewers, they multiply the possible points of view on the exhibition and unfold a multifaceted and kaleidoscopic experience. These sculptures enable the porousness of the exhibition, which keeps changing and morphing as the viewer walks through it, creating a unique experience, one that is different for each visitor and therefore resists documentation and recording. As suggested by its title, BLISS POOL (GANG) also acts as a surrogate for absent bodies. The silhouettes of the three laser-cut shapes evoke a group in conversation.
