Kiyan Williams at Whitney Biennial 2024: Even Better Than the Real Thing
March 20 , 2024 - 2025
Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY

Kiyan Williams is among the 69 artists and 2 collectives participating in the Whitney Biennial 2024: Even Better Than the Real Thing, the 81st edition of the Whitney Museum’s celebrated survey of contemporary American art. Co-organized by curators Chrissie Iles and Meg Onli, the Biennial interrogates the concept of "the real," reflecting on societal shifts shaped by artificial intelligence, fluid notions of identity, and critical conversations about land and embodiment.

This thematic exhibition unfolds as a “dissonant chorus,” exploring the interplay between history, identity, and the precarity of the present moment. Featuring works across various media and disciplines, the Biennial extends into robust film and performance programs. Williams’ participation contributes to this critical dialogue, underscoring their innovative approach to examining identity and the materiality of the world.
