Portrait of Shuang Li
Li Shuang is keen to explore how globalization and the digital age have shaped personal identities like gender and race. In 2015, she walked around New York City’s Times Square for six hours wearing a sign that read ‘Marry Me for Chinese Citizenship’ to question stereotypes about race and immigration. Li held solo exhibitions at Open Forum in Berlin last year and SLEEPCENTER in New York in 2018. Her work was also shown in institutional exhibitions, including Times Museum curated by Biljana Ciric in 2019 and Tai Kwun Contemporary in Hong Kong in 2018.
