• Minoliti’s multivalent practice draws from the visual languages of modernist forms, popular culture and geometric architectural representation.
• It encompasses painting, print, and sculpture, and demonstrates sustained focus on eroticism, gender expression, and techno futurism.
• This emphasis, expressed in the intricate scenes and characters staged by Minoliti, imagines utopic transhuman and genderqueer futures while maintaining and insisting on the universality of our shared humanity.
Description:
Along with MARVIN and MARCUS, TUITI is one of the autonomous circular characters in GG, Ad Minoliti’s second solo exhibition with Peres Projects. In this exhibition, blurring the line with a site-specific installation, Minoliti invites the viewer into a futuristic and cartoonish queer spacecraft. Inspired by trans-feminist and queer theories, the artist experiments with the possibilities of representing characters with no gender, origin, age or class. Drawing inspiration from both the geometric, abstract language of modernism and the popular anime aesthetics, TUITI is an unclassifiable figure made of simple shapes, curved and straight lines, filled with bold hues of blue, red, orange, yellow and green, to which two wide, shining eyes give life. TUITI is representative of the fictional geometry that Ad Minoliti has developed throughout their career, both aesthetically and rhetorically. True to Minoliti’s practice, this work represents a generous and joyful act of resistance against adultism, speciesism and binary discrimination.
