The Top of Each Ripple -
Peres Projects is pleased to announce Manuel Solano's solo exhibition The Top of Each Ripple at Dundee Contemporary Arts in the UK, curated by Eoin Dara (Head of Exhibitions),. This exhibition will offer audiences a glimpse into different bodies of work that Solano has developed since 2014, focusing in a broad sense on an expanded idea of portraiture as a form of artistic expression that has driven the artist’s practice to date and continues to inform much of their newest work. Opening August 27, The Top of Each Ripple will run until November 20, 2022.

Manuel Solano (b. 1987 in Mexico City, MX) studied at the National School of Painting, Sculpture and Printmaking in Mexico City. In 2013 Solano went blind due to complications related to an HIV-related infection. Since then, Solano developed unique methodologies to continue an art practice which includes painting, video, and installation, and which explores memory and identity, as well as balances the autobiographical with pop cultural imagery. Recent solo presentations include Pivô, Sao Paulo, Kunsthalle Lissabon, Lisbon, ICA Miami, curated by Alex Gartenfeld and the Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil, Mexico City, curated by Guillermo Santamarina. Solano has also participated in group exhibitions at the Palais de Tokyo, curated by Hugo Vitrani and Fabien Danesi and The New Museum Triennial in New York, co-curated by Gary Carrion-Murayari and Alex Gartenfeld. Solano has upcoming solo exhibitions at Dundee Contemporary Arts and Peres Projects. In addition, they will participate in a group exhibition at Mendes Wood in Sao Paulo.
